A clinic microneedling session runs at 1.0–2.5mm, is performed by a trained practitioner, and costs $250–600 a session. This is not that, and we're not going to imply it is. This is the at-home end of the same idea — shallow, gentle, and repeatable on a Tuesday night.

The honest version

What this is, and what it isn't

This category is full of before-and-afters that were taken in a clinic and claims that belong to a $500 treatment. Here is the actual distinction.

Clinical microneedling1.0–2.5mm, performed by a trained practitioner, numbing cream, real downtime. That is a medical procedure and it belongs in a clinic.
0.25mm — cosmeticSits at the surface of the skin. Used to facilitate exfoliation and give skin a smoother look and feel. Little to no downtime, and the one we'd point most people to.
0.5mm — more demandingTwice the depth, and it asks more of your hygiene, your spacing and your judgement. Most people never need it. Pick it deliberately, not because bigger sounds better.
What we're not going to tell you

We're not going to tell you this rebuilds collagen, erases scars, or removes wrinkles. Those are claims about changing the structure of your skin, they belong to devices that have been through a regulatory process, and this hasn't. What a roller at this depth does is facilitate exfoliation and make skin look smoother and more even. That's a modest, real thing, and it's what we're selling.

Sanitise first — every single time
Why the rules aren't suggestions

Choosing

0.25mm or 0.5mm

Same handle, same 192 titanium-alloy needles, different depth. Same price — so choose on what you'll actually do with it, not on value.

A
0.25mm — start hereOnce or twice a week. Minimal redness, usually gone within an hour. If this is your first roller, or you have sensitive or reactive skin, this is the one. Most people never need to go past it.
B
0.5mm — every 2–3 weeks, maximumRedness for several hours to a day. Requires strict sanitising, strict spacing, and no actives around it. If you're going to be casual about any of that, buy the 0.25mm instead.

The routine

How a session goes

1
Sanitise the headSoak in 70% isopropyl alcohol for 5–10 minutes, then let it air dry. Every time, before and after. This is the single most important step on this page.
2
Clean, dry, bare skinWash with a plain cleanser. No serum, no oil, no makeup, nothing active. Dry skin fully.
3
Roll in four directions, light pressureSection by section — horizontal, vertical, then both diagonals, lifting between passes. Two to four passes per direction. Let the needles do it; pressing harder is how people damage their skin.
4
Nothing but a plain hydrator afterwardsHyaluronic acid or a simple barrier cream. No acids, no retinol, no vitamin C, no fragrance, no essential oils.

Before and after

The protocol, in full

Almost every bad outcome with an at-home roller traces back to one of four things: a dirty head, active ingredients, too much pressure, or too often. All four are avoidable.

Before you roll

Prep — starts 48 hours ahead

  • Stop all actives 48 hours before. Retinol, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, exfoliating scrubs. Rolling over freshly exfoliated skin is how you get a chemical burn you didn't plan.
  • Sanitise the head in 70% isopropyl for 5–10 minutes, then air dry on a clean surface. Never rinse it under a tap and call that clean.
  • Wash your hands and your face. Plain cleanser, no oil, dry completely.
  • Check the needles under good light. Bent or blunt needles tear rather than pierce. If the head has done 10–15 sessions, or looks wrong, replace it.
  • Evening, not morning. You want the hours afterwards to be indoors, with no sun and no makeup.

After you roll

Aftercare — 24 to 72 hours

  • Plain hydrator only. Hyaluronic acid or a bland barrier cream. Nothing active, nothing fragranced, nothing with essential oils, for 48 hours.
  • No makeup for 24 hours. Brushes and sponges are not sterile and the skin is not sealed yet.
  • SPF 30+ daily for a week, and stay out of direct sun. Freshly rolled skin burns and pigments far more easily than you expect.
  • No swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms or heavy sweating for 48 hours.
  • Sanitise the head again and store it dry in its case. Not on the bathroom shelf, not in a drawer with everything else.
  • Respect the spacing. 0.25mm: once or twice a week. 0.5mm: every two to three weeks. Going more often does not speed anything up — it just stops the skin recovering between sessions.
Don't use this at all if

You have active acne, cystic breakouts, eczema, psoriasis or rosacea in the area; any open wound, cold sore or skin infection; a history of keloid scarring; or you've taken oral isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last six months. If you're on blood thinners, immunosuppressants, or being treated for a skin condition, ask your doctor before you buy this rather than after.

Never share it. Not with a partner, not with a sibling. A microneedling head is a personal item in the same category as a razor, and the reason is blood.

Aurenne is new

No testimonials, no stock before-and-afters — and in this category the stock before-and-afters are usually from clinical treatments at four times this depth. We haven't shipped enough of these to have honest reviews. When we do, they'll come from real orders.

UNOPENED RETURNS · 30 DAYS · 30DAYS
30 days to change your mind — while it's sealed

Read the contraindications above before you break the seal. Unopened units go back within 30 days for a full refund. Once the sterile seal is broken this is a single-user skin-contact item and cannot be resold, so it's final sale. Faulty or damaged units are replaced regardless.

Before you buy

Who this works for, and who it doesn't

This is a cosmetic tool used at the surface of the skin. It is not clinical microneedling and there are skin conditions it should stay away from entirely.

✓This is for you if

  • Your skin is healthy, intact and generally calm
  • You want a smoother look and feel, and you are realistic about how modest that is
  • You can follow a protocol — sanitise, light pressure, no actives for 48 hours, SPF for a week

✗Buy something else if

  • You have active acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis or any infection on the area
  • You are taking isotretinoin, or finished a course in the last six months
  • You are pregnant, or have a clotting disorder or take blood thinners
  • You are hoping this will do what a clinic does — it will not, and we are not going to suggest otherwise
  • You would share it with someone. This is a personal item for the same reason a razor is

FAQ

Questions

Which depth should I buy?

0.25mm, unless you have a specific reason not to. It does the cosmetic job with minimal downtime and it's far more forgiving of an imperfect routine. At 0.5mm the hygiene and spacing rules stop being suggestions.

Does it hurt?

At 0.25mm most people describe it as prickly rather than painful. At 0.5mm it's noticeably sharper, particularly across the forehead and jaw. If it hurts a lot, you're pressing too hard.

Should I bleed?

No. Pinpoint bleeding means you've gone too hard or too deep for at-home use. Stop, apply a plain barrier cream, and leave the skin alone for two weeks.

Can I use it around my eyes?

Not on the eyelid or the orbital bone. The skin there is thin and there's no version of this that's worth an eye injury. Stay outside the socket entirely.

How often do I replace the head?

Every 10–15 sessions, or sooner if the needles look bent or feel dull. They blunt with use, and blunt needles drag instead of piercing.

Can I use my retinol serum with it?

No. Not before, not during, not for 48 hours after. Driving actives into freshly needled skin is the most common way people injure themselves with these. Plain hydrator only.

How fast does it ship?

Prepared in 1–3 business days, shipped direct from our supplier, typically arriving within 6–14 days total. You'll get a tracking number.

What's in the box?

The roller in your chosen depth, a storage case, and the full protocol guide. You'll want 70% isopropyl alcohol and a plain hyaluronic acid or barrier cream — neither is included, and both matter more than anything that is.

Modest claims. Strict instructions.
